Give the kids at your School or Park District a one-of-a-kind experience through our theater arts residency program! Imagination Theater’s interactive residency workshops give young people a chance to play, express themselves, build teamwork skills, improvise, “act” with integrity, and create a performance of their very own…
Our professional, experienced, and highly creative teachers can lead a residency program customized to suit any theme, any schedule, any age, any group size, any time of year. Read on to learn about some of our most popular residency programming...
Time to Act!
In this workshop, Imagination Theater teaches kids four basic tools of acting. Kids experiment with how voice, movement, feeling, and imagination let you “be anyone you want to be, go anywhere you want to go, and do anything you want to do.” Students participate in theatre games, improvisational and storytelling exercises designed to create awareness of themselves and their surroundings. The residency culminates in an improvised showcase performance, with parents being invited on stage to participate.

Ready, Set, Action!
After a review of some basic acting tools, participants apply their new-found skills in improvisational and scripted scenes, character creation, and monologue work. The residency culminates in a showcase performance for an invited audience where participants demonstrate their ability to memorize lines, create characters and fully engage in scene work.

Acting for Change
In addition to teaching the basic tools of acting and reviewing the components of a scene, the group begins a dialogue about the issues they struggle with in their daily lives, such as bullying, respect, and conflict resolution. Kids then learn coping skills that build self esteem and empower them to make smart decisions. Students will then write scenes and monologues based on what they have learned, culminating in a fun performance showcase for an invited audience.
